Frequently Asked Questions

How does this work?
First, you submit your form for your free consultation form or reach out via email/phone. Your free 30-minute consultation can take place in person or virtually, that is up to you. During this time, you will share your concerns and questions. Together, you and I will decide how to best support you and your family. During our first meeting, we will break down your family routines to help develop your family goal/s. We will make a plan of how to meet your goals. This plan will look different for each family but it may involve things such as language to use with your child, home accommodations, visual supports, social stories, regulation tools, and more. We meet as often as you would like moving forward until you feel that you are confident in your goal/s. Again, this looks different for all families.

What do you mean by goals?
Goals vary depending on your family and needs. They are the end result you wish to see. As a general rule, the goal is met when you rate yourself as a 4 or 5 on your routine. Here are some general examples of what families choose to focus on:
- Earlier or set bedtime
- Set a manageable morning routine
- Establish tools to support strong emotions
- Have a child-accessible home
- Calm evening routine
- Feel confident going to storytime at the local library
- Support strong emotions in the home and community
- Set up your home to better support your child’s IEP goals
- Streamline your homeschooling routine
- Make the home environment more intentional to support your child’s development
- Prepare child/ren for a change (new baby, separation, vacation, etc. -
How many sessions do I need?
Some supports, such as creating a social story and use of language to support a transition or change may take as few as 3 sessions. Other times a goal may be a larger commitment. You decide, based on your confidence when you have met your goal. I have worked with some parents weekly for months and others for just a few sessions. It truly depends on your needs and wishes. You can get an idea of what to expect time and cost-wise during your initial consultation.

I would like support but I'm not sure I can afford it. Are there reduced rates available?
At this time, I am not able to provide reduced rates.
I am working to provide accessible support for all families. If I am unable to meet your family's needs I can help to provide some local resource information in hopes that you find the support you are seeking.

My children are older. Can you still help?
The wonderful thing about developmental supports is that they continue to work for children of all ages. There are some tweaks made here and there as children grow but the idea remains the same. That said, my education and resources are for families with children from birth to age 8, or third grade. At this time, I am only focusing on supporting families within the early-childhood stage. There are local agencies that may still support and meet your needs. Check the Resource Page for information on local support.
